DYERSBURG - With the Region 7-3A crown at stake Friday night when the Dyersburg Trojans host the Dyer County Choctaws, a capacity crowd is expected to descend on J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

According to DHS athletic director Terry Glover, anyone who would like to beat the rush and eliminate a long wait in line may purchase tickets in advance beginning Tuesday at Manner's Men Shop, 575 Mall Blvd., in Dyersburg.

Like all regular-season game tickets, the price is $5.

Both the Trojans and Choctaws are unbeaten in region contests, each holding a 4-0 slate. Dyersburg is also unbeaten overall, currently standing at 8-0. Dyer County is 7-1 overall, having lost a 38-7 decision to McNairy County Central in Selmer in the third week of the campaign.

All other teams in the region have at least two loses with just two regular-season games remaining, meaning the winner in Friday night's showdown will secure the regional championship with the loser to settle into the runner-up spot.

Adding to the excitement is annual homecoming festivities at DHS.

Dyersburg and Dyer County have had three common opponents - Haywood County, Obion County and Ripley. The Trojans defeated the Tomcats 21-14 in two overtime periods at DHS, romped past the Rebels 54-12 in Troy and caged the visiting Tigers 28-7 . The Choctaws bested the Tomcats 14-9 in Brownsville, rolled past the Rebels 61-12 at Troy and shutout the Tigers 35-0 last week in Newbern.

The top four teams in each region advance into the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association's state playoffs scheduled to begin on Nov. 9.
