Dyersburg receiver Steven Permenter tries to haul in a deflected pass before a Brighton defender can interfere in Tuesday night's West Tennessee Athletic Conference large school championship. Permenter and the Trojans’ supporters thought he’d made the catch as he fell to the ground, but officials said the ball was bobbled and ruled the pass incomplete. Brighton won the game 42-30.
With no teammates in sight, DMS running back Rod Ceasar (24) has to deal with a host of Brighton defenders himself. Ceasar helped the Trojans score 30 points, but the Dyersburg defense couldn’t stop the Cardinals in a season-ending setback.
With Paul Galewski (46) looking to take care of any would-be tacklers, Dyersburg’s Travis Bradshaw (47) heads for the end zone to score the Trojans’ first touchdown Tuesday night at Brighton. Bradshaw scored on a 12-yard run.
Dyersburg receiver Cody Escue (left) races to the goal line ahead of Brighton’s Treyshun Gardner to put another touchdown on the scoreboard for the Trojans. Escue hauled in a pass over the middle and capped the 43-yard scoring play with a fleet-footed jaunt to the end zone.
Despite the yank from a Cardinals defender, DMS speedster Travis Bradshaw (47) continues his rushing attempt for good yardage in first-half action Tuesday night in Brighton.
Dyersburg head coach Mark Schneider (center) makes a point to his team during a time out against Brighton. Listening in are DMS assistants Jeremy Hinson (left) and Randall Gatlin as well as Trojans quarterback Hayden Alford.
Hoping teammates Erik Velazquez (52) and Robert Beard (5) arrive to assist, DMS defender Matthew Jennings (60) keeps a tight grip on the jersey of Brighton speedster Greg Starks (22).

Brighton ball carrier Treyshun Gardner (25) holds on tightly to the football as DMS defender Jacob Stegman and a Trojans teammate make a tackle.
Dyersburg assistant coach Brian Lee urged his troops to keep giving a good effort in the late going against Brighton.
Brighton athletes Treyshun Gardner (25) and Greg Starks (22) earned individual honors in post-game ceremonies Tuesday night. Gardner was named the game’s most valuable offensive player after scoring three touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 42-30 triumph. Starks also made big plays on offense, but was named the game’s top defender for his efforts on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
