It's usually hot and steamy in mid August at Alamo, especially when area high school teams collide.
On Aug. 17, Crockett County will host the Sports Orthopedic and Spine Kickoff Scrimmage, featuring McKenzie, Bolivar, Lexington and the host Cavaliers. Admission is $5 and advance sales will be kept by the individual schools.
All teams will scrimmage each other, including a junior varsity scrimmage to start the event. Between the JV and varsity scrimmage, there will be a skills competition. Athletes will race, take part in a punt/pass/kick competition then linemen will participate in a tire roll.
Each team will play in a continuous-clock 30-minute scrimmage. McKenzie has already scrimmaged Liberty Magnet and is set to take on visiting McNairy Friday. Lexington recently scrimmaged Lewis County. Bolivar is set to play in the Star Rehab Therapy jamboree in Chester County.
