DYERSBURG - Bands from throughout West Tennessee and the surrounding states converge on J.C. Sawyers Stadium this weekend for the annual Godsey Memorial Symphony of Sound competition.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The competition is named for the late Jim Godsey, longtime band director at Dyersburg High School. The 2008 competition is the 29th annual event on the DHS campus.
Awards will be given in separate divisions according to size with individual section awards also to be presented. Championship trophies will be presented in each division and the overall points champion will be recognized.
The Dyersburg High School Golden Trojans Marching Band, the event host, will also perform in exhibition.
