ATWOOD - Fayette Academy churned out 324 yards against West Carroll with almost a third of that total coming in the first quarter as the Vikings spoiled the War Eagles homecoming 34-0.

Joseph Defoor was the Vikings top rusher with 55 yards on seven carries, scoring a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but Fayette Academy spread the wealth. Eight of the 10 ballcarriers for the Vikings rushed for twenty or more yards against the War Eagles.

Fayette Academy proved it wasn't a one-dimensional offense as quarterback Davis Cocke was 5-11 for 113 yards and three touchdowns. Zach Morse scored on a 23-yard pass play in the first quarter while Drew hauled in two touchdowns, one for 39 yards and another for 28 yards, both in the third quarter.

Defensively, the Vikings managed to get into the West Carroll backfield frequently, eliminating the threat of the War Eagles backfield for most of the game.

The War Eagles rushed for 178 yards on the night. Colby Cooper was the leading rusher with 48 yards. Freshman Carson Suite followed with 30 yards on six carries.

The Class of 2009 and the West Carroll Marching War Eagles dedicated the game and halftime show to Tabitha Inlow, a former member of the band, also was a member of the Class of 2009.

Fayette Academy (2-1, 1-0) will host Manassas on September 19 in a regional contest. Manassas (2-1, 0-1) is coming off a 36-6 victory over B.T. Washington.

West Carroll (0-3, 0-1) will host the Greenfield Yellow Jackets (2-2; 1-0) in a very important Region 7A matchup, also on September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
