Lady Chargers fall to Gibson Co. 57-45

MARTIN, Tenn. – On most nights, the No. 6 Westview Lady Chargers would take 29 points from standout Amber Rechis and walk off the court with a victory.

But most nights, Westview isn’t playing the No.1 Gibson County Lady Pioneers, which had four players score in double digits to remain undefeated and earn a 57-45 victory here Tuesday night.

Rechis was perfect from the free-throw line (8-of-8) and nailed five 3-pointers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the balanced offensive attack of Gibson County, which improved to 19-0 overall and 10-0 in District 13-AA play.

Courtney Haynes drained four 3-pointers on the night for the visitors, the last of which came on the heels of a trey by Rechis to cut Westview’s deficit to 41-37 with 5:35 to play.

Harris took the kick-out pass and ripped a 3-pointer from the wing to start 10-3 run to seal Westview’s fate and drop the Lady Chargers’ record to 15-4 (6-3).
Rechis’s 29 points led all scorers, while Grace Ann Swaim added 12 for Westview.

Aubrey Reedy led the Lady Pioneers with 20 points, followed by 14 from Haynes, while Heather Butler and Heather Griffin added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Lady Chargers return to action at 6:30, Friday night, at Dyersburg, while Gibson County looks to go 20-0 on the season and run its unbeaten streak to 55-0 at home against Ripley.
